Daphne, Alabama is the largest city in Baldwin County and among the fastest growing cities in the state.

Historical records indicate Spanish explorers discovered this area as early as 1557. Records also indicate April 9, 1874 as the actual establishment of the town that would be Daphne, with the designation of a Postmaster and official Post Office for the Community at that time. Daphne was incorporated on July 8, 1927 with a population of only 500. Today more than 16,000 residents call Daphne home.

Daphne is situated along the eastern shoreline of Mobile Bay, just off I-10 and approximately 11 miles east of Mobile.

The heart of the city is often referred to as Olde Towne Daphne. Quiet roads are shaded with moss draped oaks, giving the feeling of a small town full of charm. In Olde Towne Daphne, you can find local restaurants and public parks all along Main Street. Guido’s, Cousin Vinny’s, and La Rosso are just a few of the restaurants that offer everything from pizza and pasta to steak and sandwiches.

Along with the Baldwin County Public Schools, there are several award-winning private schools in Daphne. Christ the King Catholic School opened its doors in September of 1950. Today, Christ the King Catholic School serves approximately 450 students in K through 8th grade. Additionally, Bayside Academy opened in September 1970, with classes from K through 8th grade. By 1971, Bayside added its first high school class, which graduated in 1975. This independent, co-ed, college preparatory school now has 730 students in grades Pre-K through 12th grade.
